When I ordered some of the .25 cal JSB Kings last week, to try in my new Mac1 prepped .25 cal Marauder, I was informed that the name had been changed to JSB "Exact quarter bore special". I like the new name a lot. It really takes me back to my hardcore powder burner varmint hunting days.
I loved some of the quarter bores for long range rock chuck hunting up in the Absaroka-Beartooth Mountains, along the Wyoming, Montana border. I had a .25-06, and a .257 Ackley Improved that were death on chucks out to 600+ yards. Man was that ever challenging and fun.
These JSB quarter bores, are going to be used for long range, by airgun standards, prairie dog, and jackrabbit hunting here in Northern Arizona. I may even sneak up to Utah this summer for a rock chuck hunt with my .25 cal Marauder. This is going to be a fun rifle to hunt with, no matter what the prey.
I now have .25 cal Kodiaks, and these JSB quarter bores on hand, and my order of the new Benjamin .25 cal pellets will be here tomorrow, so I should be able to get down to some serious chrono and accuracy testing this weekend.More to follow.
